FireBrick and ECDSA Certificates

This page is about FireBricks making outbound HTTPS connections -eg if you are using the ping-url, auto-backup-url, or other features where the FireBrick is a https client.

During 2024 Let's Encrypt defaults to issuing ECDSA certificates instead of RSA. At the moment FireBrick only supports RSA.

You may see errors on the FireBrick such as: TLS 81dd99c0: failed fatal peer error (-1040)

The way around this would be to install an RSA certificate on the server it is connecting to.

This doesn't affect normal traffic through the FireBrick such as computers accessing web pages.
